Rules of Etiquette

Travel Group Etiquette
  • You will remain with the group at all times, unless specifically instructed.

  • You will treat everyone on the trip with respect and kindness.

  • You will treat everyone we encounter on the trip with respect and kindness. There will be no talking bad about anyone or anything.

  • There will be no consumption of alcohol. Even though you are responsible for your meals at restaurants, you are still not allowed to order alcohol or purchase it in any stores regardless if you intend to consume it on the trip or not.

  • You will dress appropriately and modestly at all times, including in your hotel room if you have a roommate.

  • Your hotel room will be left in the same orderly manner as when we checked in. All trash will be in the trash can, all messes cleaned up, and everything put back where it belongs. If you have a roommate that does not abide by this rule, it is still your responsibility to ensure your room is in a clean and orderly state.

  • You will help keep the bus clean. All messes created by you will be cleaned up by you.

  • When removing trash bags from the bus, look inside to ensure it is trash and not someone’s purchase(s).

  • If you encounter a problem that you cannot resolve calmly and peaceably, then it is your responsibility to approach me in such manner concerning the issue.

Amish Etiquette
  • Taking photos of Amish people is not allowed.

  • Taking photos of Amish property while on their property is also not allowed.

  • While in the company of the Amish, you will be fully covered and modestly dressed.

  • There will be no cell phone usage while in the company of the Amish, except if in an emergency situation.

  • Regardless of how you believe or choose to live your life, you will respect the Amish lifestyle and faith.

  • You will be respectful of the Amish at all times.

  • Asking to see or be in other parts of an Amish family's home is not allowed.

  • Asking to use the bathroom or wash your hands at an Amish family's home is not allowed.

  • Attempts to see other parts of an Amish family's home is not allowed.

  • Physical affection with Amish children is not allowed, regardless of gender.

I reserve the right to add more rules as issues are encountered on the trip(s).
